Books that changed my life
Undoubtedly, it is the “Bhagavad Gita – as it is”
In fact I never had this habit of reading books until I graduated from college and it all started when I was in hyderabad. Had some `ing roomates with me who were all an absolutely enthuless `ads and they used to keep reading books books and books only…and me the odd guy out with them and wanted to be a happy going vetti guy there. So I tried to bring them my way – finally it worked out the other way round…!!!!
Yes. I was making some futile attempts to reduce my weight and after a heavy workout and improper diet intake finally fell fainted right on the middle of a main road..after which I went into a DEPRESSION state of mind for next few days. And accidetally I have this habit of sketching when `am in to a depression and took this Bhagavad Gita book to sketch the paintings that were there in it…and as I was reading few pages – felt it like an Enlightening one giving answers for all the questions that were running in my depressed-state-of-mind that time. Belive me… all it took was just 2-3 days to finish the whole GITA and with a true understanding. That was my first read on a BIG BOOK completely and It was at that point of time I realised the importance of “State of mind” while reading books.
After this I myself started taking and reading those books of my roommates and that included some books list that influenced my life like :
“The Alchemist (an enlightening one)”, “Eleven Minutes (an offensive one)”, “Manual of warrior of Light (a great piece)” – by Paulo Coelho
Some enlightening series.. like Jonathan Livingston seagull (forgot the author name) , The Monk who sold his Ferrari (by Robin Sharma) , The Himalayan Masters (forgot the author name) , Black wind (by Deepti Naval), Love Story ( by eric segal) etc.
And now I have become more as a situational reader – and most often an e-reader – trying to get stuffs that I want to read right on my desktop through internet – depending on my ‘state of mind’ and read those stuffs in detail.
Books that I have read more than once
Undoubtedly, it is the “Manual of the warrior of Light” - by Paulo Coelho
A book that I would take to a desert island
Undoubtedly, it is the “Bhagavad Gita – as it is”
Books that made me laugh
Linda Goodman`s – Love Signs – My Friend and I used to apply the book concepts to all people around us and do a PhD…used to have a good fun with this book.
Books that made me cry
Undoubtedly, it is the “Karnanin Kadhai” (a Thamizh book – “The story of Karna” – a character from the epic Mahabharatha..have cried for him literally many times)
A Book that I wish to write
Nice tag ! I used to tell one of my old friend many a times that I want to write a book with title “ THE MONK WHO WANTS TO BUY A FERRARI “
with me in lead role.. J
Books I am currently reading
1)Ippadikku Suriya.. (In Thamizh ) – an autobiography by Thamizh actor Suriya who narrates first 30 years of his Life

However not going to abide by the last rule – ie. Authors from different parts of the world..

6) Men are from Mars Women are from Venus – havent read it so far though wanted many a times before to read it… ( need to buy it L )
7) One hundered years of Solitude – by gabriel garcia marquez – No idea about this book – just got attracted with the title and going to attempt it ( and I don’t need to buy it also…as one of my friend left it in my home.. J )
Ippadikku Suriya… (In Thamizh) – CURRENTLY ONGOING – an autobiography by Thamizh actor Suriya who narrates first 30 years of his Life – the inferiority complex he used to have, his falling for love with Jo and the Transformation he underwent and the self-confidence he gained after that… So my blog post will commence from this book review..
