Being  Poonalized & a twice-born brahman, I need to be Penalized for not following the rituals. :-(

This is what is something which i was trying to convey to everyone around but never got proper words to communicate it through..i got to read this in the net and exactly and precisely this the message i was looking for that everyone in the world must read and spend some time seriously to think about…

After all Human`s achievements ..i still feel something is going wrong terribly..

Isn’t it amazing that George Carlin – comedian of the 70’s and 80’s – could write something so very eloquent…and so very appropriate?

     A Message by George Carlin:

The paradox of our time in history is that we have taller buildings but shorter tempers, wider Freeways , but narrower viewpoints. We spend more, but have less, we buy more, but enjoy less. We have bigger houses and smaller families, more conveniences, but less time. We have more degrees but less sense, more knowledge, but less judgment, more experts, yet more problems, more medicine, but less wellness.

We drink too much, smoke too much, spend too recklessly, laugh too little, drive too fast, get too angry, stay up too late, get up too tired, read too little, watch TV too much, and pray too seldom.

We have multiplied our possessions, but reduced our values. We talk too much, love too seldom, and hate too often.

We’ve learned how to make a living, but not a life. We’ve added years to life not life to years. We’ve been all the way to the moon and back, but have trouble crossing the street to meet a new neighbor. We conquered outer space but not inner space. We’ve done larger things, but not better things.

We’ve cleaned up the air, but polluted the soul. We’ve conquered the atom, but not our prejudice. We write more, but learn less. We plan more, but accomplish less. We’ve learned to rush, but not to wait. We build more computers to hold more information, to produce more copies than ever, but we communicate less and less.

These are the times of fast foods and slow digestion, big men and small character, steep profits and shallow relationships.. These are the days of two incomes but more divorce, fancier houses, but broken homes. These are days of quick trips, disposable diapers, throwaway morality, one night stands, overweight bodies, and pills that do everything from cheer, to quiet, to kill. It is a time when there is much in the showroom window and nothing in the stockroom. A time when technology can bring this letter to you, and a time when you can choose either to share this insight, or to just hit delete…

Remember; spend some time with your loved ones, because they are not going to be around forever.

Remember, say a kind word to someone who looks up to you in awe, because that little person soon will grow up and leave your side.

Remember, to give a warm hug to the one next to you, because that is the only treasure you can give with your heart and it doesn’t cost a cent.

Remember, to say, “I love you” to your partner and your loved ones, but most of all mean it. A kiss and an embrace will mend hurt when it comes from deep inside of you.

Remember to hold hands and cherish the moment for someday that person will not be there again.

Give time to love, give time to speak! And give time to share the precious thoughts in your mind.

AND ALWAYS REMEMBER:

Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away.

Nowadays the word ‘horoscope’ itself sounds like ‘horroroscope’ to me..`am running miles away from it..

I dont understand. If the horoscope chart of the person is the one which is going to decide the good/ bad of one`s life…then i see no point in me spending so many night-outs all these days to understand microbiology, tissue culture, thermodynamics, automotives, integral calculus, oracle sql, fluid mechanics etc etc. Rather than spending night outs for these subjects , i wud ve spent those time in undertanding horoscope charts , so that i would have aquired a skill set which is the deciding authority of one`s life.

Infact i remember very well what happened many years ago, while i used to sit in the stairs of my home preparing sincerely for the class exams and that was the time when i used to secure 1st rank always in the class…that time itself i used to tell my mom..’i feel by studying like this without actually knowing why i am doing it – something somewhere is going wrong..’..and see…now its proved. If Astrology , planetary positions and motions , horoscope charts are the deciding factors of one`s good / bad in their life, then WHY dint i study it ? why no one encouraged me to understand it? Is it something which i am not supposed to learn…or is it not exposed to me believing like ‘one cannot undestand it’ by my parents…I dunno. I somehow feel i missed learning an imposrtant subject which i should have learnt years ago…this is what i had been telling all these days “why are we spending our time in artificial entities / processes and not on natural phenomenon”…

Fate. what is it ? i dont understand..is it a pre written / pre decided records for all living creatures of the world or is it just a name given for a fundamental and basic unit of mysteries of life..

I am not a strict believer of Fate. But still some strange(or should i say unusual)happenings in day to day life makes me think “why not belive it” feeling..

An example incident here….yday there was an unexpected UPS burst in my work location building and so all of us are announced to evacuate the building. Not a mock drill…but a real one and so all of us rushed out..within few hours everyone of us and all project teams were immediately identified & allocated alternative locations for our organization to continue with our job…

Well…So after all the disaster recovery attempts…i just reported today at the new work location…and Incredibly within 10 minutes of me parking the bike – and entering the premises – there was a Fire alarm.

AGAIN ?

yes…fire alarm again in this new building with an alert message “Due to emergency all the associates are requested to immediately evacuate the building..”…Not for a joke. True fire incident again in this new premises which is no where connected and which is miles apaart from my previous location.

Now tell me , Is this just a co-incidence and am i creating an illusion for myself ?? is FATE not true ?? It does exist i guess..creating unusual happenings like this…huh? after all of us are allowed to go inside after soem half-an-hour `am sitting now in an alien chamber in this new building and none of my colleagues have reported today in this new building..and me blogging and writing this post now…and i like this way of sitting-alone-undisturbed-in-a-big-AC chamber-and-blogging :-) .

While reading through the recent edition of Sir.APJ`s ‘billion beats’ issue dated 27th feb, The ‘Knowledge equation’ what he had highlighted over in it made me remember some other related quotes and sayings too.

apj.jpg

These formulae may be very simple as equations but are quite difficult to follow/implement in real life. Also be it in whatever situation and state of mind we are, we can always get a ‘quote/saying’ for it which makes us feel it is right or which guides us to proceed further. This sometimes gives rise to quite contradictory sayings too.

Some sample famous quotes as equations/formulas:

1)     The formula for Success is 1% knowledge 99% hardwork

2)     The formula for Success is just two steps

     a)     Don’t tell what you know to others

     b)

3)     If A is success in life, then A =x + y + z. Work is x; y is play; and z is keeping your mouth shut.(Albert Einstein).

4)     Willpower = Desire + Reward – Punishment

5)     Happiness = Acceptance + Inspiration + Respect (called as AIR equation)

6)     Positive emotions = Something + “acceptance”

7)     Negative emotions = Something + “non-acceptance”

There are so many quotes like this that I had come across.

From all these I can infer that all these quotes and sayings are only the reflections of the state of mind from the quote authors. And we getting remembered of such quotes or using these equations to guide us are also purely due to the reflection according to our state of mind. These reflections though guides us, it might give a +ve outcome or a–ve outcome. So in my opinion we need to include our own sense and arrive at the right equation to be followed or use an equation arrived of our own and not just blindly follow any one of them.

I got an opportunity to notice this picture today and still laughing about the message. Look at those expressions on all faces.

Very True! Especially for persons like me this one makes a very good sense.

On many occasions some of my well-wishers have asked me why I am showing utter disinterest to make smart investments through shares , mutual funds etc when I have a real and adequate ability to crack it easily so as to gain multitude of returns back. They used to fire at me asking what am I doing with all my money that I am earning. I reply that I spend them for my use. Rest I give my parents. And of course I am sensible enough and make a (reasonable) savings and investments for a better future.

Next question from them will be “What investments?” On Such questions though when I won’t have an immediate answer, I tell them…’mm…LIC, NSS etc’. Then immediately I get a reply of 1000s of advices “Why not this? Why not that? That will give a 10 times return. This will give 100 times return”… But I only end up giving an answer “Podaaaaang…Dae…Don’t pester me da machi…I will take care”. Pch!! Enuf! The reason being I don’t ‘desperately’ need money returns.

Of course Money investments are wise plans to make our future better. But don’t know why I am not developing an interest to plan out strategies to make Money investments as a ‘race’ – like ‘Who wins by getting huge returns in X number of years?’ If it is a race, then sorry! I am not into that game. For me there are only two kinds of people in terms of this. First – those who achieve what they want. And the second – those who enjoy/ utilize what they got / get. I wish to enjoy/ utilize with what I got / getting. But I see most people not doing the second part. Because they are in the ‘race’. For me wise are those who do the second part also. Just breaking our head on achieving what we need is not a complete one.

If the meaning conveyed above is vague – Consider this example. You want to ‘desperately’ buy a TV for some reason. But thinking like waiting till Diwali will give us a 50 % discount + gift – is not a right decision for me. One can relate it with a famous quote “The best time to buy something is when you are in need of it”. By the time you look for an ‘optimized & efficient’ time to buy something your DESIRE on buying the thing would have gone stale. It’s all there whether you want to ‘buy’ a TV or ‘desperately buy’ a TV.

To make it simple I DO think of making investments. But not in terms of ‘desperate’ money. They are of different type. It might give huge returns back in future or it might not give. That I know very well and ready to face the consequences. Because After all, it’s my decision
